Empowerment of Women our priority area: Chib

Hon'ble Minister, Medical Education, Technical Education, Youth Services and Sports, Er.R.S. Chib,VSM laid the foundation of of New Women Hostel Block being constructed under Skilled Development Mission at Govt. Polytechnic for Women, Jammu to-day. He also inaugurated the newly constructed one bed staff quarters for the convenience of the supporting staff. of the Institution.

Mr. R.S.Chib said that, the empowerment of women is the priority area of our Department. Er.R.S.Chib.VSM, Hon'ble Minister speaking on the occasion spell the programmes and the policy of the J & K Govt. in the field of Technical Education. He high lighted that the intake capacity has been enhanced from 3500 to 7000 in Polytechnics under the Skill Development Mission . The Govt. is in process of establishing 18 new Polytechnics at District level and for this purpose 434 new posts has been created by the Govt. Further the construction of these Polytechnics has already started and the work has been allotted to the JKPCC. While appreciating the work done the Govt. Polytechnic for Women, Jammu in CDTP Scheme, IRG Scheme besides the regular Diploma courses, appealed the faculty and staff to work with diligence to keep the pace of activities and extend the benefits of the Skill Development Mission to the deserving stake holders.

1. Er.R.S.Chib said an amount of Rs.1.7. crores will be spent to improve the following:

a) Textile Block
b) Canteen facilities
c) Double bed rooms staff quarters.
d) High mast lights
e) Deep boring hand-pump

Er. Chib further added that, the college will also be provided the sports facilities for the students, ,which will include, Table Tennis, Volley Ball and Basket ball

The Director, Technical Education Mr.Sourab Bhagat, IAS, while addressing the gathering high lighted the infrastructural requirement of the Govt. Polytechnic for Women, Jammu. He appreciated the up-keep and maintenance of the Institution and complimented the faculty and staff for rendering services par excellence to the stake holders. He congratulated the Principal on the inauguration of staff quarters and laying of foundation of Women Hostel.in the Institution, which is being constructed by J & K Housing Board at a cost of Rs.1.00 crore.He also requested to the Hon'ble Minister to kindly look into immediate infrastructural requirements of the Institution.

Er. Gurbachan Singh, Principal, Govt. Polytechnic for Women, Jammu while welcoming chief guest and other dignitaries presented the outline of the activities being carried out in the Institution for the benefit of the students and other state holders. He described that the institution is implementing the programme and policies of the Skill Development Mission of J & K Govt. in letter and spirit under the able guidance of the Hon'ble Minister, Commissioner / Secretary to Govt. Technical Education& Youth Services and Sports & Director, Technical Education ,J & K State.

The vote of thanks was presented by Er.Neetu Maini, Head of the Department, Electronics & Communication Engg. Department of the Institution .The function was compered by Er.Naresh Gupta. Lecturer in Electronics & Communication Engg. Department of the Institution .Those present on the occasion included DGM, Housing Board, Jammu, Secretary, J&K State Board of Technical Education, the faculty ,staff and the regular students of the Institution were present.
