Government Polytechnic for Women, Jammu is to offer AICTE-approved Diploma programmes in specific areas of Engineering, Technology and Office Management to female candidates of Jammu and Kashmir State, selected by the competent authority (authorised by the state government) according to specific government norms.

The Polytechnic is to adopt the curriculum and evaluation systems approved by the State Board of Technical Education.

The institute comes under the administrative and financial control of the Directorate of Technical Education and is required to follow all the rules and regulations of the state government.

The polytechnic is authorised by Ministry of Human Resource Development of the Government of India to uplift the rural people in the district, women in particular, by offering them non-formal skill development training programmes, transfer of technology and technical support services.

The polytechnic is also permitted to offer continuing education programmes to the society under the WBAP-Tech. Ed. III Project.

The polytechnic is expected to usher in a new era for women by providing them with opportunities to step into and contribute meaningfully to the technical world.
