Modern Office Practices

The Department was started in the year 1988 with the intake capacity of 10 students and was named as Secretarial Practices with 2 years duration. Later the Department was renamed as Modern office practice and the duration of the Course was changed to 3 Years and the intake capacity was increased to 30.The Department has been modernised with the latest equipment under world Bank Project.

The different labs in the Department are:

1. Typing Lab
2. Communication Lab.
3. Office Equipment Lab.

Employment Opportunities for Diploma Holders in Modern Office Practice:

Following are the job opportunities available for the diploma holders in the Modern Office Practice. Some of these positions are likely to be occupied by diploma holders at the entry level and some after gaining work experience for a certain period of time:

Wage Employment:

    1. Personal Secretary
    2. Office Executive/ Supervisor
    3. Documentation Executive/ Supervisor in the following areas of employment
      1. Public and private sector enterprises, Boards and Corporations
      2. Service Sector establishments like Banks and other Financial Institutions, Hotels, Hospitals, Insurance Companies, Transport Systems, Travel Agents, Education Institutions etc.
      3. Commercial Establishments.
      4. Government Departments etc.
    4. Vocation Teachers in ITIs, Polytechnics and Schools.
    5. Call Centres, Medical Transcriptions and Data Entry Establishments.

Self Employment

In addition to above these diploma holders can setup their own service centres and own enterprise

    1. Reprographic Services, Photostat, Lamination, Punching and Binding, Cyclostyling, Electronic Typing, Laser Printing, DTP, Computerize Accounting and other job works.
    2. Information Networking, PCO's, Phone, Fax, Courier etc.
    3. Consultancy Services: Income Tax, Sales Tax, Office Design and Layout, Accounting, Labour Relations, Travel Guides etc.
    4. Sales and Service of Office Machines, Equipment and supply of office consumables
    5. Call Centres and Medical Transcriptions and Data Entry Enterprises.
